Alta Vista Community Charter School and the Auburn Union School District are excited to introduce the Alta Vista Virtual Academy (AVVA), a tuition-free home study education option serving TK-8th grade students. For families interested in an alternative to classroom / distance learning instruction, the benefits of AVVA include:
A Highly Qualified, Credentialed Master
Teacher assigned to exclusively support home study students / families
The Master Teacher works with student/family to develop a Learning Plan based on CA academic standards, and the student’s abilities, interests and learning style
Well-supported, rigorous, media-rich curriculum in core subjects, electives and social-emotional learning to nurture the whole child
The Master Teacher facilitates student progress at a level that matches each student's needs
Students have access to a broad range of instructional resources, including:
GATE/Rapid Learner and/or Intervention content and pacing available
Chromebook checked out to student
Access to AUSD teacher and publisher instructional videos
Online and print curricula
AV Virtual Academy students may participate in district:
Daily telephone/email access to Master Teacher for individual support
Weekly student-teacher 30-60 minute meets (virtually or in-person) to review the week’s assignments, provide support and instruction, and give feedback on completed work
Study groups (virtual or in-person) guided by the Master Teacher
