Alta Vista's 5th Annual

September 27, 2018

Alta Vista's JOG-A-THON is one of the Biggest (and Funnest) School Fundraising Events of the Year!  It will take place on Thursday, September 27, during school hours.

Because the JOG-A-THON is one of our school’s BIGGEST fundraisers, your support is vital. Most importantly this is the only event where the kids take the lead in raising money for their school. Most of Alta Vista's Enrichment Classes and the school's Chromebooks are funded through Bucks Booster Club events like the Jog-a-Thon.

We need your help to reach our goal of $15,000!

We are asking students to participate to get their families, friends, neighbors, and  parent/guardian to sponsor them in the JOG-A-THON. Although most families have found it easier to collect “flat donations” (e.g. $25 for the whole event), some people prefer to make per lap pledges (e.g. $1/lap).  Donations can be made using cash, checks (made payable to "TBBC"), or through Walkstarter.  Pledge packets are going home this week and there is no time to delay, start collecting pledges today!

Walkstarter is our safe and convenient web-based fundraising tool. It is easy to register and makes raising funds for the events like the JOG-A-THON oh-so simple by sending pledge requests to your family, friends and others via email.  Walkstarter notifies students when pledges are made, and follows up with a thank you message.

  • Go to

  • Click on the My Walkstarter button

  • Click on the blue Login button in the upper right corner of your screen

  • Students will be able to use their school Google account to get set up on Walkstarter

  • STEP 1: Complete the basic pledge information

  • STEP 2: Set up your personal avatar

  • STEP 3: Publish and start raising funds!

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends, and allows them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and Walkstarter tracks your pledge progress online.

Mrs. Taylor is training for the JOG-A-THON by running laps on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the lower field during lunch recess.  She'll be running Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on September 4.  Mrs. Taylor will give a pledge of $5 to each students who run ALL six Lunchtime Laps with her this month!  Students must bring running shoes to participate in Lunchtime Laps.

  • The Grand Prize, and two runner-up Prizes for the three students who raise the most money for the JOG-A-THON will be announced at Friday assembly  after the student surveys are collected.

  • Pizza party with the Principal: All students who raise $75 or more

  • Grab Bag: All students who raise $100 or more

  • Engraved Trophy: Top boy and girl runner (most laps)

  • Raffle Tickets: Each participant will receive 1 ticket for participating. Students will receive an additional ticket for each pledge they receive. Raffle prizes will be announced soon!

  • Adult Jog-A-Thon runners (parents, teachers, and community members) will also earn raffle tickets for the grown-up raffle drawings.

We'll have a DJ playing motivational tunes while the runners lap the field. Students should wear their class colors (we will be taking a rainbow photo of the event)! Student and adult participants will run laps on the lower field from 10:30 to 11:30.  The record for most laps run at an Alta Vista Jog-a-Thon is held by Jesse Lenz who ran 41 laps in 2017.  Runners will run through the FUN ZONE with balloons, streamers and water fun to keep cool.  Volunteer monitors will be on the course to ensure that the students do not over-exert themselves.

There will be plenty of water, bananas and orange slices to keep the runners hydrated. The school health clerk will be on hand, as well. All students participate in the run. Parents, please let your child know it is perfectly okay to walk if they feel the need.

We will need parents to help set up/clean up, donate oranges, help mark the kids laps, hand out water, bananas and orange slices during the race, or simply get out and run with the kids to keep their spirits up. If you are able to come and help out, it really is a blast!!  Sign up through Konstella or reach out to our Jog-A-Thon coordinator, Moriah Gloyd, at
