Welcome to Alta Vista Community Charter School

Alta Vista Community Charter School is an extraordinary organization of experiential, project-based learning, built upon a foundation of partnership among our Governance Council, students, exceptional staff, highly involved families, and supportive district authorizer.  Our founders chose the charter school model because of a deeply held belief not only that schools should be accountable for student learning, but also that infusing learning with real-life experiences cultivates successful, responsible and valuable citizens.
In the two years I have served Alta Vista as its principal,  I have been consistently struck by the incredibly welcoming, caring and supportive nature of this community. Alta Vista's small size size allows us to build strong, trusting connections necessary to advance the school’s work on behalf of our students. Relationships are the essential component for our students progress. The Alta Vista team believes that every child is exceptional and has a right to cultivate and nurture his or her own unique interests and abilities.
My goal as the educational leader of this school is to to inspire children and staff to reach for their full potential in an environment that nurtures collaboration, mutual respect, civic responsibility & lifelong love of learning. Experiential education has been at the heart of my work in education since founding my first charter school in 2005. I am honored to be a part of the exceptional group of educators, paraprofessionals and staff members at Alta Vista and the Auburn Union School District.  We hope you will visit our campus to learn more about our program.
